Hawk Cay Resort in Duck Key, Florida was the next stop for Chris in November, 2022 after three weeks in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Located 60 miles above Key West, the manager of the resort called on Chris for his talents. On the drive to Hawk Cay, Albert texted Chris, “If you get to Cuba, you’ve gone too far!”

For design inspiration, Chris drew from Ernest Hemingway’s boat called “pilar” to design the bar front to look like the back of Hemingway’s boat, along with other lettering around the bar. Inspiration wasn’t hard to find as the bar was located between two pools – “Great View!” Also, coincidently, in the 80’s Chris had worked for Pilar Wayne (John Wayne’s wife) at their home in Newport Beach, California.
